DOUBLES QUALIFIERS

Jonas Bjorkman & Max Mirnyi

Defending Tennis Masters Cup champions Jonas Bjorkman and Max Mirnyi appear at the circuit-finale in Shanghai for the third successive year. The pair joined forces at the start of the 2005 season.

The Swede-Belarusian duo went undefeated in Shanghai last year (5-0 record), including a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Mark Knowles and Daniel Nestor in the final.

Bjorkman and Mirnyi started the 2007 season on a high as they reached the Australian Open final (l. to Bryan-Bryan), but it wasn’t until the Race to Shanghai intensified that the pair returned to top form with the Stockholm title (d. Clement-Llodra).

Bjorkman will appear at the circuit-finale for the seventh time in his career. The 35-year-old won the 1994 crown with Swedish compatriot Jan Apell, beating Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde in the final.

The 30-year-old Mirnyi is making his fifth successive appearance at the Tennis Masters Cup. He made his debut with Mahesh Bhupathi in 2003.
