Federer Closes on Third Finale Title

Federer seeks a third TMC title.
Twice-defending champion Roger Federer bids to reach his third consecutive Tennis Masters Cup final when he plays Gaston Gaudio. The world No. 1 has a 4-0 record against Gaudio, and has also won his last 13 matches against Argentine opponents. Victory Saturday would give Federer his 34th straight match win - the joint-fifth-longest winning streak in the Open Era.
Two Argentines appear in the semifinals of a year-end championship for the first time in history. David Nalbandian and Gaston Gaudio are bidding to become the first Argentines to reach the final for 31 years, since Guillermo Vilas won the Masters title in 1974.
Nikolay Davydenko attempts to reach the Tennis Masters Cup final on his debut in the event. He is hoping to be the first Russian to reach the final of a year-end championship since Yevgeny Kafelnikov was runner-up at the ATP Tour World Championship in 1997.
