Tennis Masters Cup Tickets Now On Sale
Shanghai, China – Tickets are now on sale for Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai, the prestigious 2005 men’s tennis circuit finale to be played November 13-20 at the new $200 million Qi Zhong tennis center in China’s economic capital.
The opening of ticket sales also coincides with the relaunch of www.masters-cup.com, the official web site of Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai. The site contains the latest Tennis Masters Cup news, travel and ticket information, tournament history and much more.
Amid great fanfare, Shanghai’s Vice Mayor Zhou Yupeng unveiled the official Tennis Masters Cup booth in Times Square – the first ticketing booth ever to be located at the Shanghai landmark. More than 300 people queued to buy the first tickets. A second merchandising booth at Pudong was launched in support of online and telephone tickets sales.
ATP CEO Mark Miles greeted dignitaries and fans through a televised speech, congratulating Shanghai promoter New Sports & Entertainment for an outstanding ticketing campaign.
Tennis Masters Cup Tournament Director Brad Drewett also greeted the audience via video link and drew the names of six lucky competition winners who will receive series passes for the next three years during the Tennis Masters Cup’s stay in Shanghai from 2005-2007.
“At the Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai 2002 there was an overwhelming demand for tickets where nearly every session was sold out,” Drewett said. “Given this was our experience in 2002, it is great news that the new Qi Zhong Stadium is bigger and seats 15,000 people. Now that people in Shanghai and China have experienced tennis from the world’s best players, we expect an even greater demand for tickets in 2005 and future years and can now accommodate that increase.”
A detailed seating chart and full pricing structure can be found at the tournament’s official web site, www.masters-cup.com (English) and www.masters-cup.com.cn (Chinese), where tickets can be purchased online. Additionally, tickets can be bought at ticketing outlets in Shanghai and by telephone at +86-21 6384 6601 or +86-21 9622 88.
Tickets are divided into A+, A, B and student categories. Prices range from US$10 for a daily Round Robin student ticket through to US$580 for an A+ series ticket. Series tickets for the eight days start at US$266. Corporate boxes seating eight are also available.
Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai has the support of leading Chinese and global companies including Principal Sponsor Mercedes-Benz, Heineken, Lacoste, Indesit, China Mobile, Shui On Land, Rado, Pepsi, China Pacific Insurance Company, Shanghai Petro and Haworth Furniture.
Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai will feature the world’s eight best singles players and eight best doubles teams from November 13-20. Although no player has clinched a spot so early in the 2005 season, hot Spanish teenager Rafael Nadal is currently second in the INDESIT ATP 2005 Race after winning back-to-back ATP Masters Series titles in Monte Carlo and Rome. He is only 10 points behind leader Roger Federer and clearly has Shanghai on his mind.
In the lead-up to last week’s Telecom Italia Masters in Rome, the 18-year-old Spaniard said: "It would be great to arrive tired at Roland Garros because I did well in Rome and Hamburg. That would mean I played great in these two very important events and that I would almost be qualified for the Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai, which is one of my dreams."
